In order to guarantee the extreme quality of all of our Iberian products there is only one way: to control all of the phases of the elaboration process, from selection up to when the product is ready for consumption.
Before the free-range phase, the pig is prepared in controlled freedom.
This control begins a long time before the piglet is born. The selection of the progenitors is based heavily on their genes. The end result is more than 750 pure Iberian mothers specially selected for the rearing phase, from which our 100% Iberian pigs will be born.
In the phase prior to mast-feeding, the pig is prepared in a controlled freedom. During this phase, it is key for the pig to grow up strong, and to ensure this, aside from their feed, we make them walk constantly by placing their food, water and resting area in places which are far away from each other. The result of this is a strong pig for the subsequent mast-feeding phase where it has to look for its food and compete for it with the native and wild fauna of the Oak Forest.
Own pigs, own breeding, own meadows, own dryers
In these initial stages their food is fundamental. That’s why, at EXTREM PURO EXTREMADURA we have a mill where we elaborate our own high-quality feedstuffs which help our pigs to grow up strong before the mast-feeding phase in which they feed freely and exclusively on the acorns and herbs which they find as they stroll through our ecological paradise: the Extremeña Oak Forest.
